My name is Makenzey. Here’s a little bit of who I am.
I’m a Christian.
I love Jesus! I’ve had a relationship with Him since I was in high school. I thrive off of Christian community. I have lead Bible studies for several years, and I love being able to do life with other believers. I also love going on mission trips. I’ve had the privilege to serve in New York City, Atlanta, Chicago, McAllen (Texas), and New Orleans.
I’m a social worker.
I am currently getting my MSSW from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. My dream job is to do therapy in a school setting. My favorite age group to work with is THE awkward age- middle school! Maybe I like it because I identify with the awkwardness. I am also part of a middle school ministry where I get to have fun with middle schoolers once a week and take them to camp twice a year. They’re so much fun!
I’m a coffee-addict.
My favorite place to be is a coffee shop. It’s my happy place, and I know all the ones in Knoxville well. I love studying there. I love meeting friends there. I love going on dates there. Most of all, I love drinking coffee there.
I’m a girlfriend.
I’ve been dating this guy named Ryan for two and a half years. We met on one of the mission trips mentioned above (Atlanta), and I knew immediately that he would either be my best friend for life or the guy I marry. He turned out to be both! He has helped shape me into better person, and he reminds me of Christ every day. We laugh, we cry, we talk, we love. It’s great. If you haven’t fallen in love yet, you’re missing out. Relationships are hard sometimes, but it’s 100% worth it when you’re with the right person.
I’m a photographer.
Taking pictures is a side hobby of mine. I like to think I’ve got an eye for small details to take good photos. It is also one of my boyfriend’s hobbies so it is fun to share that passion and enjoy it together.
I’m a dog-mom.
So I don’t want kids of my own- seriously. The idea of it makes me a little nauseous. BUT I am and forever will be a mom to four-legged friends. I currently have three dogs (and a cat- but I am NOT a cat person). One is my life-long trooper, Wiley. I’m pretty sure she’s going to outlive me. The other two are 1.5 year old pups, Pippin and Luna, who remind me why I don’t want kids. They’re a handful but at least they’re cute.
